Alyssa Sandholm

Recipient of the 2023 On the Rise Alumni Leader Award

 

Alyssa Sandholm (Biomedical Engineering ’14) is an active volunteer, board member, and engaged mentor within the U’s College of Science and Engineering (CSE) community. She regularly helps plan and participates in events and campus activities, and supports students in their educational and career trajectories. For the past seven years, Alyssa has been heavily involved in the CSE Mentor Program, supporting students in one-on-one relationships and also developing and attending program events and campus gatherings through her work on the CSE Alumni Board Student Engagement Committee. Alyssa has contributed to the growth and success of the CSE Mentor Program with her energy, expertise and guidance. A senior process development engineer at Boston Scientific by day, Alyssa’s passion for helping others extends beyond CSE to include additional volunteer work with the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute as an adaptive ski instructor for people with disabilities. 

Beyond mentoring, Alyssa has been an active member of the CSE Alumni Society Board since 2016. Alyssa has contributed significantly to board events, committee work, and served in various leadership roles, including as current Chair of the organization. She played a key role in enhancing the Board's Charter, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, Alyssa recently helped organize a panel event for CSE students, sharing valuable insights as a recent graduate about everything from finances to finding your community after graduation. Her dedication to supporting students and alumni while advancing Board initiatives showcases her exceptional commitment to the University and its community.
