Sandra Wiese

Recipient of the 2019 Alumni Service Award

A true force of nature with a 13-year history of service to the University, Sandra Ulsaker Wiese has been pivotal in helping navigate financial planning, leadership roles, and the long-term strategy of the UMAA. After graduating with a BA in Political Science in 1981, Ulsaker Wiese put her talents to work in the business and legal fields, working with the U.S. Small Business Administration to facilitate communications with major corporations, among other notable achievements. Her critical thinking and insight into education issues on both the state and federal level have been an indispensable resource to the UMAA and the University at large.

A former chair of the U of M Alumni Association, Ulsaker Wiese has also led the Finance and Audit Committee, Nominating and Board Development Committee and Past Chairs Advisory Group, as well as having served on the Financial Model Task Force and the Executive Committee. As former Treasurer of the UMAA, she was instrumental in helping the organization navigate a complex re-budgeting process that ultimately prepared it for successful long-term development. Also a member of the Men’s Athletics Advisor Board, Ulsaker Wiese has demonstrated a loyal, longstanding commitment to the U, its students, faculty, and alumni.

Previously honored as an Alumni of Notable Achievement from the College of Liberal Arts and revered as an active community member and non-profit board member, Ulsaker Wiese’s contributions at the University and beyond are set to make an impact for years to come.
